WOKINGHAM Choral Society confirmed its place as one of the leading choral societies of the area with their superb presentation of this well-loved oratorio.
Under the meticulous direction of their conductor, Aidan Oliver, and accompanied by the Chimera Baroque Orchestra, they assured that status by paying impressive attention to both diction and the dynamics of the musical score.
Choral items were executed with considerable expertise and the audience enjoyed high-quality performances of the arias and recitatives from soprano Elizabeth Franklin-Kitchen, a last minute replacement for one of the soloists, young Laurie Brock (treble), celebrated Counter Tenor James Bowman, Thomas Walker (tenor) and Edward Price (bass).

A sparkling performance of O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings To Zion by counter tenor and chorus and the confident attack made to the choral items For Unto Us A Child Is Born and He Trusted In God were, for me, high points of the recital.
